O—iWellington, August 25. (from a correspondent.) Shepherd’s amended Gold-fields Bill passed second reading by the help of Tykehi committee was postponed. Copies to bo circulated during recess. Shepherd very angry and abusive. Xo chance of anything being done till Government tabes the matter np. Shepherd’s advocacy is injurious.

The Goldfields’Committee, to whom the Gold-mining Bill was referred, Lave reported that it was not advisable to proceed with the Bill, as it was not circulated.
The Otago gold-fields members, especially brow n, have again intrigued against the Bill.
Macandrew warmly supported the Bill. Pyke who, on the second reading, spoke of the Bill as a good oue and said that he would assist to pass it through Committee, afterwards turned completely round, and strongly opposed it as the Committee were considering measure. The Bill is again delayed by the disunion and jealousy of Otago goldfields members.
