Colorado, which bad not amile of railroad. less than five years ago, has now ten lines, having a total length of six hundred and sixty-eight miles. Four kittens in New Bedford, Mass., joined together like the Siamese twins, were, at the last accounts, alive and tolerably .well. live was the only woman who never threatened to go and live with mama ; and Adam was the only man who never tantalised ids wife about “ the way mother used to cook.” It is stated that the heart of a man weighs about nine ounces, and that of a woman about eight As the age increases, a man’s heart grows heavier and woman’s lighter; while some girls lose theiis at sixteen.
The Glasgow' Herald says : “We understand thatthclate Mr Stephen Mitchell, tobacco manufacturer in the city, has bequeathed *o the Corporation of Glasgow the munificent sum of 70,000’,, to be applied in forming a library, which shall be furnished with all books not of au immoral tendency.” Two Irishmen were in prison—one for stealing a cow : the other for stealing a watch. “ ‘Hullo, Mike, anil sure what o’clock is it!" said tho cow-stealer. “An? sure,” said the watch stealer,” “ Ive no time handy ; but suppose its jlst about milking time,.’ ”
The Princesses.—Tho Princess of -Wales was very pretty when she was first married; she is beautiful now; she will be handsome ten years h-imo, and she can never be otherwise than refined and distinguished in appearance if she lives to or matter v!>••!, i>ge. The Duchess of Edinburgh, ou the other baud, is not only without beauty —she is almost without features. Horace Greely’a “copy” was a string of riddles for the unfortunate compositor engaged on the paper of which ho was pro-prietor-riddles which they often solve in a way not exactly condu civo to the propounder’s serenity. When in exposing some congressional mal-praoticcs, Greeley wrote “ tis pity, and pity ’tis, ’ris true,” the familiar quotation appeared thus—- “ ’Tis two, ’tis fifty, and fifty ’tis, ’tis five?” A leader u| on Win. Seward came forth headed, 11 Richard tho Third!” When he alluded to certain electors as “ freemen in buckram,” the printer turned thorn into “ throe men in a hack room.” These excusable delinquencies were, however, capped by the painter of “ New York Tribune ” bulletins. Having received a notice in the usual hieroglyphics intended to inform the public that they must seek “ Entrance in Spruce-street,” after considerable cogitation the puzzled man of tho brush dashed off in large letters, “ Edi. tors on a Spree” and posted the extraordinary announcement on the front door of tho office.
