A SAD DISAPPOINTMENT.
A wedding party repaired to the Congregational Chapel, Folkestone, on Tuesday morning for the purpose of consummating their mutual wishes in the happy bonds of Wedlock ; but when the service was about to commence it was discovered that an “impediment ” existed. It appears that the would-be bridegroom, who belongs to Manchester, had had the banns published in the Church of England, while the lady had contented herself with merely giving notice to the Registrar of Folkestone, her native place, and fit was of course found that the two systems combined would not work. The gentleman became furious, and demanded to ho married, but the .Registrar (who was in attendance to witness t he performance of the ceremony) was obdurate. At last, the shortest possible solution was agreed to, viz., to be married by license, which could bo done in throe days, and the disappninte 1 party returned home to a sympathising though som what amusing circle of friends, who had been gathered together to celebrate tire nuptial proceedings, and who were determined that their part of the contract should at least be carried out.—Margate Gazette.
