Sir,—l wrtald feel obliged by your pul) lishing the following iu your valuable paper : Having at various times during the past few months occasion to travel by coach between Clyde and Arrowtown, and knowing there are several surface men at work between those two places, I think it is a there is not some competent man to look after them. The road is in several places very bad, with large ruts, &c.. and if those were tilled in with metal (which is very plentiful close at hand) instead of 'mud, it would] enable it to )(itand the heavy traffic, .passing between the two places, especially at this time of the year, when roads ought to be iu a good condition for travelling upon.
