DUNSTAN FLOUR MILL COMPANY.
>—o — The meeting of the "shareholders of the Dnustan Flour Mill Company to have heeii hold on Tuesday last at Clyde, for the purpose of electing a permanent Board of Directors, through the paucity of attendance, there being but two representatives df the farming interest present, was adjourned till Saturday the 18th of July instant. We are totally at a loss to understand the apathy exhibited ; the want of a ■Mill has been expressed by all -sections of the community, and in every part of the district—yet, when |tbe time for action arrives no one is prepared or willing to take the responsibility. The promoters of the present scheme for the trouble they have gone to in their attempt to establish a Mill, deserved greater courtesy at the hands of the shareholders than was accorded them on Tuesday last, and we hope on Saturday the 18*11 instant, the date of the adjourned meeting, to see such an attendance as will make amends for the past. Wo believe we shall ho speaking the mind of the public when Yre say that no half measures will do now, over 200 shares are applied for by about sixty shareholders, and if of that number a sufficient cannot Ire found to undertake the direction and management of affairs, it will he far bettor To bring it to] a close pay expenses, divide the surplus, and leave to private enterprise or chance to accomplish what thelpuhiio fail in. Such a course as this, however, we should he sorry to see carried out.
