CLYDE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The Library Committee met on Monday evening last. Present,’Messrs. Jones Auckland, Poole MTonnochie add Wilson, the Rev. J. Jones in the Chair. Resolved, That this Committee are willing to accept a Lease from the Council for twenty-one years at a peppercorn rent, if they provide a roomhiot less than eighteen feet square, provided with four tiers of shelving on one side of the room for the reception of the hooks. Resolved, That this Committee will hand over to the Town Council the 150/. now in their hands at any time on request, after the actual commencement of the building. This Committee’suggests that the partition between the proposed rooms be of such a character as to prevent noise travelling through and causing annoyance. Accounts amounting to 51. ICs. were passed for payment. Some discussion took place in reference to parties who have not paid their sub- i scriptions, and the Secretary and Librari- \ an were authorised to take steps to get the subscribers to pay up.
