o At the regu’ar. weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board held on Thursday the 15th instant, the fallowing local business way transac ted e* AVarden Beetham reported on the application of Messrs. Hallenstein and Robertson Mr A Rase of, or permission to purchase a piece of lancLhevr Weir milt-site at tho ICawarau. There were no objections, and it was Resolved that the Lind be sUrVeye I an I otfsrs I for ‘sale by . auction. The Town Clerk, Cromwell, wrote requesting that certain sections in blocks 60) (>7, 52, 53, 5(1, 79, 8, C 3, 39, 50, 12, 77, 33 of that town should be withdrawn from s ale with the view of granting them to the Corporation. It was resolved to recommend that the sections referred to be temporarily withdrawn from s»le pendiig a resolution for their being reserved b ,-ing submitte I to the Provincial Council by the Government, if, the Govermnclit thou.ht lit. ' Mr. Stanbrook applied for the postponement of a land sale. He had, it appeared, received appoiiitmeats as Government auc im ecr for two districts, and could hot be in each centre ' f population to hold sales on the same day. The sales had been advertised, and the Board considered that Mr. Stanbro k’s-reqin st conk l not be Complied with, that he must get some other auctioneer for the other ra'e. as wi: hj a pn-tponement the greatest inconvenience would ensue to the public. The Board resolved accordingly.
