Tub Company is projected for the purpose of purchasing the p’ant and claim of the Conroy’s Reef Company, Conroy’s Gully, near Alexandra, and for supplying the necessary capital lor fully developing the mine. The reasons which have induced the projectors to take this step are that an interest is in the hands of trustees and the present owners have not the required capital at tiieir command to erect the machinery for draining the mine, to enable them to work at a greater depth. So soon as the required pumping machinery is erected, payalPe stone can 1 e raised. The last parcel of stone taken out at and below the water-level, and crushed, having yielded at the rate of one ounce per ton; a'nd, as the reef is becoming better defined, it is anticipated that only a small portion ot the capital of the Company will be required to be called up. The claim is situate on the aide of the famed Conroy’s Gully, which has proved one of the richest opened in the Dnustan district, and it is tiie opinion of miners that this reef is the matrix from which the guilt has been supplied with the precious metal. The amount of gold already obtained from t.liis mine (details of which, together wiih the amount of money •expended on the plant and c'aim are annexed). These will indicate the value of the property to be acquired by the Company.' An agreement has been entered into with the present owners to sell to the Com no iv the mine, water - wbe-I, st mp.us, water-rights race, f amtvay, dams, tools, and material, etc-, connected ~therewith, for the sum of £1,200, to be paid to them in the following manner: —L6SO cash and 550 paid-up shares The said 550 shares the scrip is to be held in the hands of the Directors until it shall be mntuaiy agreed that they be passed in the bo ‘ks in the same manner as contributing -hares. This course is adopted to prevent these paid up shares being thrown on the marketuntil the Company is fully established. It is proposed that one-half of the permanent Directors shall he elected fri-m among the Dunedin shareholders. ■ •-s v Asa guarantee of the bona-fides of the projectors, it is an understanding that, in the event of the Company not being fl sited, all moneys subscribed by intending shareholders w.ll be returned in full.
