ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The ordinary mealing of the Council was held on the 24th ultimo. Present : tlie Mayor, and Councillors Morris, A] ‘Donald, Rivers and Samson. The minutes of the lust meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from tlie Secretary of Public Works, informing the Council that the sum of 150/. had been paid into the Provincial Treasury, as an allowance for the completion of the main road within the boundary. Moved hy Councilor Morris, seconded by Councillor M'Donald, That the Town Clerk apply for the money, stating that the Council are willing to take over tho management of the roads within tho town boundary, as specified. A letter was received from Mr. J. C. Chappel, complaining of the nuisance of goats and pigs running at large. Referred to the Inspector. The tenders for the work to bo don" in Tarbeit and Limerick-stceet were opened and read. Councillor Rivers said the specifications wore not sufficiently explicit, and would move, That fresh tenders he called for, to he sent in not later than Monday, the 29th hist. ; specifications to state the width of the road, the required depth of gravel, and the length of road to be made. Seconded hy Councillor Morris, and ca’ riod. Moved by Councillor Samson, That the water tanks belonging 1 to the Corporation he soil hy public auction on the Cth of October. Seconded by Councillor M‘Donald, and carried. Moved by Councillor Samson, That the Council purchase a liro-proof safe for the use of the C'-rp, ration. Lapsed fur want of a S' cornier. Tho mooting was a Ijournjd till Monday, the 23th.
