CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Clyde Council was held on Wednesday evening last, there being present, the Mayor, and Councillors Auckland, Beck, Clark and H azlett. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read, received and adopted A telegram from Vincent Pyke, Esq., M.H. R. was read, it was in answer to one from the Mayor, enquiring as to the possibility of getting the Bridie Bill passed the House, and was as follows “If Macandrew does not move, will bring in Bill myself for Bridge. Waiandrew has brought in a Bill to borrow 200,000/. to construct It ail way from Lawrence to Alexandra. The Mayor stated that the Provincial Engineer would be in Clyde in a day or so and said that it would he advisable that a Committee be appointed to wait on him on the subject of the main road through the M uuicipality. It was resolved that the Mayor artd Councillors Ilazlett and Auckland wait on the Provincial Engineer and endeavor to arrange the matter with him. The Town Clerk was instructed to prn - cure 'he Mr nieipal Corporations Act and A mendments, and the depasturing Regulations. The Mayor stated shortly action would be taken to frame regulations for the management of the Commonage. The Standing Order s were suspended, and the Council formed itself into a Finance Committee, when accounts amounting to 221. 3s sd. were passed forpayment. Orre account was ordered to stand over. The usual vote of thanks to the Chair conehuled the meetin .
