ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of the Council was held in the Library on Friday last, the 22nd iust. Present :W. Boresford, Esq., Mayor, aud Councillors Rivers, McDonald, Samson, and Morris. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inward correspondence was read and reeeivad, and the outward correspondence read aud adopted. The application of Mr. Graham, stonemason, to be allowed to deposit building stone on the side of the roadway, opposite to Mr. W. Robertson’s new stone hotel, was read and agreed to, on condition that a light he kept burning on same during the night. . It was eventually resolvsd, That legal proceedings should be instituted to recover any rates unpaid by tho sth of September. ’1 ho appointment of Committees w as then proceeded with, Councillors Rivers and Morris being elected Committee of Finance and Councillors Samson and M‘Donald for Public Works, the Mayor to be ex-officio member an 1 Chairman of each of tho said Committees. Resolved, That tenders ha called for the formation of road in front of Mr. Chappie’s residence, and to improve the approach to the punt. Resolved, That the Public Works Committee be empowered to have a foot-bridge erected over the channel crossing the road leading to the Post-office aud a foot-path formed. Resolved, That the Town Clerk be empowered to have all goats rambling at large within the boundary of the Municipality driven into a yard, and notify the owners thereof that if the license on them is not paid forthwith they will be shot. The Town Clerk was instructed to draw the attention of the Inspector of Nuisances to existing Nuisances, Notice of motion by Councillor Samson, That be would move at the next meeting of the Council, That an iron safe be purchased, and that tho iron tanks and tups, the property of the Corporation, be sold. The meeting closed with the customary vote of thanks-
