Coals are dull of sale. Adelaide, July 22. —10,000 bushels of wheat were sold afloat at 5s lOd. The exports of cereals for the half year were valued at L 1,300,000 sterling. The quantity exported during the year was 131,000 tons. A private telegram from California says the surplus crop for export is G,T00,000 centals. A fire broke out on the 22nd in the portion of the Immigration Barracks at Cavershani known as the northern wash-house, which was totally destroyed, it having been necessary to pull it down, in order to prevent the flames spreading to the main building. To defective flues in the wash-house fire: place the origin of the fire is said to be traceable. One of the immigrants had beep washing till nearly five o’clock, and she asserts thather husband afterwards helped to put out the fire, by pouring water upon it. Duringthe day workmen were employed in pulling down the flues in the wash-house at the southern end, with a view- to their being rebuilt. The fire was first noticed by- two immigrants, who were standing at the washhouse. They at once gave the alarm, and turned on the watorcocks, besides throwing buckets of water on the flames. Several of the Cavershani residents were quickly on the spot, and assisted in preventing the spread of the fire. The Fire Brigade, with a small engine, were also quickly on the scene, in- .j telligcnoe of the (ire having been conveyed to town by Mr Chaplin,— Star.
