GARDENERS’ CALENDAR. JUNE.

Kitchen- Garden. —Every part of the garden should now be dug up, and the surface left in a rough open state to allow the action of the weather : nothing will so effectually pulverise the ground as exposure to its intiuenee. With the exception of peas, broad beans, and raddisb, it is not advisable to sow seeds this month. Plant o it cabbage, cauliflower, rhubarb, and seakale ; also hardy herbs, such as sage, mint, thyme, horse radish, hyssop, marjoram, f nnel, &c. While the ground is in a dry state, hoe and stir frequently between the rows of ca'-bages. Fruit Garden. —Proceed with the pruning of gooseberry and currant bushes, also anple, pear, plum, and cherry trees, and dig between the rows of trees and bushr-s, leaving the surface in a rough open state, as recommended in the directions for the kitchen garden. In dieging round trees or bushes, care should be taken not by any means to injure the surface roots, as the productiveness of fruit trees is increased by the preservation and encouragement of the small fibrous roots near the surface of the ground Any transplanting contemplated should be pushed forward with all possible expedition.
