CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
An adjourned meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday 1 1 evening last, the 17th inst. 1 Present Mr. J. U. Canbridge, Mayor, : 1 and Councillors Auckland, Naylor, Mar- 1 shall, and Hazlett. . The inward correspondence and two Telegrams (one from the Secretary of the goldfields, the other from the Superintendent,) was read and received. The outward correspondence was read and adopted. After some discussion with respect to the * proposition from the Superintendent, as ‘ contained in tire telegram from his Honor, it was resolved, That Mr. Hazlett be cm- 1 powered, when in town, to confer with his , Honor on the matter of the proposed reservoir in tire Wai Keri Keri Valley, and 1 to communicate with the Council by telegiam or othei wise, and wait for a reply. 1 The following is a copy of the telegram as ; received :—“ Estimated cost of reservoir to i hold six million gallons, 1,000/. In the 1 event of the money being expended, will the Corporation pay an annual rent sufficient to cover the interest at 54 per cent, and maintenance, charging fur the use of water a rate sufficient to recoup the said rent, Mr. Feraud to have a certain quantity | afterwards to be fixed, free of charge.” The following account was passed for payment, 4/. 45., Assessors fees. The application of Mr. George Fache to lease town sections was left over until next meeting. This closed the business of the meeting with the usual vote to the chair. PNEUMATIC DREDGE COMPANY. — o— meeting of Shareholders in the above Company was held at Clyde on the evening of Monday; Mr. George Clark in the chair. It was proposed by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Auckland, That the resignation of Mr. Henry Toone, one of the Directors of the Company, be accepted. Carried. Proposed by Mr. Archibald, seconded by Mr. Hastie, That Mr. Honywill be appointed a Director, in the place of Mr. Toone, resigned. There being no other nomination, Mr. Honywill was declared duly elected. After some discussion relative to the general management, the meeting was adjourned till the following evening. The adjourned meeting was held on Tuesday evening, the 11th iust.: Mr. George Clark, Chairman. The following resolutions were passed : Proposed by Mr. Hastie, seconded by ’Mr. Auckland, That, considering the heavy expenses, the Directors bo requested to reduce the expenditure to as low a rate as possible. Proposed by Mr. Naylor, seconded by Mr. Atyeo, That the meeting stand adjourned till Friday evening.
