BALD HILL FLAT RACES.
Monday, March 17, 1873. No small amount of credit Is duo to the Committee for affording so sterling a day’s amusement and real sport as was given on Monday last, and considering it was their first attempt, they must feel gratified at the great success it prove I. In answer to the general invitation, many visitors from feviot, Clyde, and Alexandra put in an appearance, and formed as jovial and social a meeting it has been our pie ;sure to attend for a long time past. The number of competing horses redounds to the credit of the district, and show's indisputably that a good horse is admired. Each event was contested with the utmost fairness and o goodhumour, the ring element being notably' conspicuous by its absence. The race-course though small, is a very good one, the I being regular, making it easy both for worses* and riders, and had been prepared with care. The Booth, which was under the superintendence of Mr.Crossan.was liberally supported. To sura np, the day’s cup ymeat was perfect, and we have no doubt the Committee, on their intimation of making a second effort to produce a good day’s sport, will he more liberallyjsnpported than ou their first. It is but justice *o add, that the management of the day’s meeting by the Committee was par excellence no more delay than was possible being allowed to intervene between the events, and every cause of complaint, whether on the part of visitors, owners of horses, or jockeys b ina specially avoided.
