CROMWELL RACES.
The Cromwell Annual Races commenced yesterday;. The day was excessively warm, butj inconsequenceof tne rain on the previous day and the absence of strong wind, the dust was harmless ; in fact, there was little or none until the day’s programme was well uigh exhausted. The attendance was fair, and the Grand Stand was quite as well filled as could have been expected, considering the number of horses ami vehicles on the ground, On the whole the sport was good, and we regret that the lateness of the hour at which we received our report compels us to abridge it very considerably. We may say that worthing passed off in a very' satisfactory manner, and that only one protest was entered. Mr. Marsh provided the refreshments, and was pretty liberally patronised. The following is the result of the five events on the card Cromwell Derby : a sweepstake of £5 ss. £2 2s. for feit, with £SO added.
