CLYDE DISTRICT SCHOOL.
o A meeting of the School Committee was hold in the Public library on Mondayevening, the 2Sth nit. Present : Messrs. M'Connochio (in the chair), Ilankin, Ilastie, Grindley, and Christophers (Clerk). The minutes of the last meeting were read andjcantirmed. Letters from the Board of Education, dated tho 29th of August and the 3rd of October, and from the Dunstan Band of Hope dated the 20th of August ware read and received. Tho Clerk reported that the balance of the purchase-money for the old school house had been duly pah 1; thatthe net proceeds of the kettle-drum and concert amounted to 33/. 18s., and the entertainment given by Mr. Westropp to 4/. 3s. A vote of thanks was passed to donors to the Kettle-drum, tb the Choral Union, and to tho Band of Hope ; also to Mr. Westropp and to the gentlemen who so ably supported him. The following accounts were passed for payment :T. Webb, for cleaning school room, &c., 3/. 13s. ; J. Hazlett, rope, &c., 4s. 9d. ; M. Marshall, 1/. 7s. Gd, ; W. Warren, 10s. ; W. Auckland, 51. lls. Bd. Mr. Cambridge’s account for 423/. ss. 2d., for contract and extras, building new schoolhouse, was passed for payment, with the exception of a sum of Sc. Ills , for altering partitions, which was left to Messrs. Ilastie and M'Connochio to make arrangements about. Webb’s request for ir creased pay for cleaning school room was rejected. The Schoolmaster’s report for August, September, and October, was rad and received. A memorandum, suggesting that the Committs should obtain a supply of school books was postponed for consideration until after the Inspector of Schools had paid his next visit. The Clerk reported that, after receiving 28/. alivady promised, and paying accounts due, there would remain a deficiency of about 70/, Messrs. Grindley and M'Ccnnochie were appointed to complete the canvass for subscriptions. After a vole of thanks to the Chairman the meeting adjourned.
