A General Meeting of Mera'el’s of th above Club, convened by advertisement, was be d in tbe Club Room, Port Pin ]ij. Hotel, on Saturday, the 21st lost., wbei, about twenty gentlemen were present. Mr VV. Giindley bought the first sle; to be taken avas the payment of membeis fees, sotuat subscribers wouldbe entitled t.. sit and vote at the meeting. This suggec t.on was acted upon, and 25 guineas vve.t at ouee handed to the Treasurer. Mr. Naylor, of Cly le, uni Mr. Mellor, of Drybread, were elected members on th< Vj ces of the meeting. The date to be taxed for the next Annuo; leetiug next cane un ler consideration ml after sine slight discussion, it wa* resolved that the next Annual Race Meeting of the D.nstan Jockey Club take place on I’hars'liy and Friday, the Cch and 7tn of February, 1d73. The following gentlemen wero duly elected
officers of the ClubW. Fraser, Esq. President; James Hazlett, Esq,, Vice-Pre-ident;' and Messrs J. G. G. Olassferd, f Cowan, R. Stewart, W. Griudley, A. Christophers, A. R. B. Thomson, S. Welst rrd, W. Eames, and J. Cox, members of Committee.
Mr Fache said the present was a most •pportune time to bring up for discussion a natter about which a great deal had been aid, but nothing as yet done. He referred o the fencing in of the Dnustanßacecourse. t was admitted on all sides that the fencing n of the course would not only conduce to he comfort of visitors to the races, but it ■vould be source of revenue to the Club. A ery large area (under a Provincial Ordiance) was vested in trustees for a raos•ourse, and h= hoped the Committee would et about the work with a will, and have t done by the next meeting. The Secretary laid on the table the Ordiance above referred to. The Trustees are Messrs. W. Fraser, J. Hazlett. W. A. Low, P. L. Shepherd, M. Marshall, G. Fache. After some discussion as to ways and means, it way unanimously resolved, That Messrs. Hazlett, Christophers, Gnndley, and Eames be appointed a suh-Committee, ‘o obtain estimates of the cost of various kinds of fencing, and also the probable cost if finishing the grand stand, and that they be requeste I to bring up a report at the next meeting. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the meeting.
