THE TICHBORNE TRIAL.

We of course are not alluding to ! the merits, but to the convenience of the case. UuL S3 the law is altered in the meantime—and we agree with Serj-, ant BalI lan tine that the passage of any measure I just now is not very certain—tbe jury, if I these charges of felony are to be tried, must be locked up night after night throughout the trial at the Westminster Palace hotel, or elsewhere in the vicinity of Westminster Mall. The trial will last as long, probably longer than that at Nisi Prius, because the jury will not he able to stop the case ; and it is positively frightful to think that twelve men are to be kept close prisoners for many months, without the slightest opportunity of attending to their families or their affairs. Moreover there are vague threats of a trial at liar, which would go far to block the ci'-il business in the Court of Bench to. an extent which would not be remedied within tbe space of two ycaig. Th<>re are sacrifices of public and private time which are not possible even in the Tiehborne case, and the Crown is really bound to bo sparing of victims.
