ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening last, the 9th inst. Present : The Mayor, W. Bcreeford, Es,;.) and Councillors Rivers, Theycrs, M‘Donald, and Martin. The minutes of the previous meeting were re»d and confirmed. The outward correspondence consisted of letters to the Colonial Secretary, Wellington; Messrs. Kincaid, M‘Queen,, and Co., Duuedin: and Thomson Brothers, Port Chalmers. Inward correspondence : Colonial Secretary, acknowledging receipt of advice of election of Mayo ■; also letters from Messrs Kincaird, M‘Queen, and Co. and Thomson Brothers. The following Committees were appointed Public Works—The Mayor and Councillors Rivers and Theyers. Finance—the'MftyOr and Cor noil tors M‘Donald and Mortin. The Towi Clerk and Rate Collector's
salary was fixed for the current year at the rale of 30/. per annum. The fees for the Auditors was fixed at 11. Is. each for the current year. The fee for one Valuator was fixed at 2/. 2s. Proposed hy Councillor Rivers, seconded by Councillor Martin, That the Town Clerk be instructed to insert a notice in the Dunstan Times to the effect that summary proceedings will be taken for the recovery of all un-paid rates after the sth of September. Carried. Proposed by Councillor Rivers, seconded by Councillor They era, That the Public Works Committee confer with the Ovens Water-race Company with reference to c instructing a bye-wash from their rate, and have ’ the work completed if found practicable. Carried. The Town Clerk was instructed to obtain c spies of Corporation Amendment Ordinances. Accounts tt the amount of 10/. 3s. 4d. were passed for payment. The meeting was then adjourned until the 23rd inst.
