TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE DUNSTANTIMES.) Sir :—From a paragraph in your lasi week’s issue it appears that som'e enquiries have been made with regard to the sittings of the Council, pu . the reason they are always held in a small room, thus excludin'' the public. It is generally understjod that these meetings are public, and iu most instances it is the wish of thy Councillors themselves, that the ratepayers should attend for the satisfaction of both. Ido not wish to say that these meetings are held in a small room purposely for excluding the public, but it does appear that they are n«t particularly wanted, else the hall won!- 1 have been used from the first. There is another thing ; however desirous anyone might be to attend, he se’dora hears the time fixed for the same. Now Sir, I do think that these meetings should be held in the hall, and likewise, that notice should appear in your journal of the same, it would be no great trouble to you, and would not only be obliging myself, but a numb r o.' other ’ RATEPAYERS. Clyde, August 14, 1872.
