CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday the I2th instant, at S p,m. Present—James Hazlett, Esq., J.P., Mayor, and Councillors Clark, Naylor, Welsford and Patterson, The minutes of the last monthly meeting and of the special meeting held on the 29th ultimo, were read and confirmed. The inward correspondence, as follows, was read and received—From Jules la Fontaine making application to lease Corporation section. From the Secretary of Quadrille Assembly, asking terms for the use of the Town Hall. From MessrsM‘Lachlan and M'Pherson, asking the Council to support their application to the Waste Land Board for a punt site at Clyde. From the Secretary o' the ball committee, applying for-the use of the Halt On the 21st instant, for a ball in aid of the School funds. From Mr. Tyrrell, drawing attention to the want of a road to the rear of Sunderlandstreet on the west side, and. from W. Arthur, Esq., late District Surveyor, explanatory of a system of raising water from the Molyneux. The outward correspondence was read and adopted. Resolved—l hat the Council are prepared to let on a lease of five years to Mr. Jules la Fontaine a Corporation section, at a rental of 21. per annum. Resolved - That the terms upon which the Council is willing to give the use of the Town Hall to the Quadrille Assembly be 10/. for three months, or 1/. per week, the Council to provide lights. Resplved—That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to the Waste Lauds Board, supporting the application of Mecers M‘Lachlan and M'Pherson for a punt site. The Town Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Tyrrell that tho matter referred to in his letter will be dealt with,; also, to acknowledge letter from Mr. Arthur, conveying the thanks of the Council for his valuable suggestions. The Finance Committee’s report, recoin mending payment of tho following accounts was adopted.— Dun-slim Times, 10/. Is. ; Provincial Government Gazelle, 10s. fid. ; C. Hueston, 17s, fid, ; Mr. James Hazlett’s expenses', 15/.
