The Melbourne Herald says:—“ Referring once more to the Tichborne case, we may mention that information to the following effect has been given us: —“ In one of the Government offices, Melbourne, is a clerk who has in his possession a ring, bearing the Tichborne coat of arms, and on the inside the name of Roger Tichborne’s sister engraved. The ring was purchased for a trifle from a pawnbroker, who disposed of it at a low figure, on account of a difficulty being experienced in selling it owing to the crest.” This ring was seen by our informant in the possession of the individual referred to. The question is, how did this ling get into the possession of the pawnbroker! Something important to the issue of the trial might hang on that."
