DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
'* The usual mnntly meeting of the above institution, held in the Council Chomhers Clyde, on Monday, the 4th of March, at S p.m. Present, —J. Ilazlelt, Esq., President, and Messrs. Christophers, (Treasurer) Cambridge, Cox, Marshall, Holt, Auckland, and G. Eache,’(Secretary.) The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed. The inward correspondence was read and received. The outward was read and adopsed. The Visiting Committee’s report No. 1, reporting that the affairs of the Institution, under the superintendence of Dr. It. W. Stirling was most satisfactory, and that a marked reduction "was to be observed in the expenditure ; and suggesting various repairs, was read and received. After some slight discussion the report was adopted. Report No. 2 recommending the payment of accounts amounting to 76£. 4s.Bd was read and received. The .Treasurer’s Report as follows, was read and received. Subscriptions. D. Robertson, Balmoral, ... £2 2 0 M’Laren, Gregg, & Co., ... 5 5 0 Paying Patients ... 29 15 4 Disbursements. 1 Accounts, &c., paid ... £B3 1C 4 Assets. Government Subsidy ... £9B 9 9 Liabilities. Outstanding accounts. ... £535 14 G The Surgeon’s Report was read and received : Patients in Hospital at the beginning of the month, 10 ; admitted during the mouth, 8 ; discharged, 9 ; oied, I ; remaining in the Hospital on the 291h of February, 9 ; daily average attendance, 61. The outdoor Patients attended to were two from Alexandra, and one from Black’s. The patients admitted were two from Galloway Station, one from Moutere Station, two from Alexandra, two from Bannockburn and one from Bendigo. The Report further stated that two patients were admitted from Alexandra, on the letter of Mr Samson, without the proper form of recommendation. A discussion ensued, during'which, the impecunious position of the Institution was referred to, after which it was resolved, That the Secretary bo instructed to write to Dr. Stirling; drawing his attention to rule CO, and requesting him to enforce it. Tenders for supplies, &c., were read and the following accepted. Groceries and medical comforts, B. (Naylor ; Bread, P. Calder; Coffins, C. Huestou; Burials, T. Webb.
The Secretary stated that ho had not received any tender tor the supply of meat. Proposed by Mr. Christophers, seconded by Mr. Holt, That the Visiting Committee bo empowered to call and accept tenders for meat for the ensuing three mouths.— Carried. Messrs. Cambridge and Cox were elected members of Visiting Committee. Proposed by Mr. Christophers, seconded That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Provincial Government for a special grant of money, to make up the deficiency caused by the government reducing the subsidy retrospective, and that the President when in Dunedin, be requested to support the application. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
