Why all this toil and trouble t” \LL those who are suffering from despondency melancholia, loss of spirits, .and pluck, who feel that they are wasting and pining, and who are gradually g tting weaker and weaker, from causes they have no courage or desire to acquaint th ir family attendant with. In all such cases Mr. L. L. SMITH feels ii incumbent on himself to inform such unfortunate pa ients, that he has devoted his lifetime to the study of these complaints, having been a pup'l a id assistant of the late Dr. Culve well, of Loudon, who made these diseases hisspeciq prae ice. In all those diseases relating anl pertaining to Married Life, and which mako marriage a curse rather than a hies iivr, Mr L. I< Lmith can be consulted wi hj the grea'es'certainty of success, and with the additional feeling that no chance can possibly occur of their secret ever being divulged. In cas n s of extreme Nervon* debility, where the pa'ient fee's that ho is exhausted and physically prostrated, and incapable of evertion without great fatigue, then and flora the person so situated should at once consult Mr. L L. SMITH before disease of a more ae ious character sets in; the a :> ove arises frequently from the enervatin'' inllueiice of hot elima es, but frequently from other causes of a more serious, nature. Palpi'a'ions of the heart, a t ndeucy also to be easily startle! and alarm ‘d, is another phase of disease which requires particular at.t ution, as arising from a most, important cause ; those who suffer from the above have not—- “ Mix’d with pleasure, And wisdom with mirth.” But have on the contrary, been guilty of a secret vice, which has, as it were, eaten into their very vitals. Many “ old young men ” consult me, who, though young in years, have, through the vice above alluded to, and from their having been quacked by the unqualified an I unskilful medical man, at last given up all hope and succumbed, and are age I in their very youth, unfitte. to fulfil the duties which they are sent on this eaith to herform. “Bo wise to-day, ’tis madness to defer Procrastination is the thi f of time.” Mr. L. L. SMITH wishes to impress on those who are laboring un er diseases which cannot bo treated by the general mediea! attendant, from i sufficient knowledge and practice, that as an expert in these diseases, he has the right to warn the public at large against the number of blatant charlatans and quacks who not only extort the money out of the pockets of the patients, but are continually ruining the health of the unfortunate sufferers. Many bun Ireds yearly present themselves to him from all the different colonies, who are thorougiily bankrupt iu health and pocket, and then lament, when too late, the horrible deception which has been practised on them. hiot only do men deceive these unfortunate victims by pretending to be legally qualified men, but they advertise for sale, andswindle the public, by selling bottles of muck, under the name of “ Dr. Ricord’s Essence of Life,” “Balm of Syriacum," and a mass of quackorics, whose side province is to extract money out of the pockets of their deluded victims. Will the public never understand that the only guarantee they can have that they will be honestly and skilfully treated, is the fact that the person to whom they apply for advice is a legally qualified medical man who has devoted his time to the bran hj of practice for which the patient is seeking aid? Seen illy, that his long residence in the place, and his position, is at least a guarantee of the estimation in which he is b >ld Viy his fellow-citizens Dr. L. L. SMITH can be consulted ny letter ; fee £l. By the above means any male or female patient, can. by describing their symptoms avoid the, in many cases, unpleasantness of a personal interview, and the patient can retain his incognito. Medicines appropriately packed to avoid observation are sent to all parts of the coin ies, with plain letters of instruction as to diet, Ac., Mr. L. L, SMITH consults personally •dady, morning, before 11, and evenings beween 7 and 9.—192, eist, Melbourne,
