A piece of solid rock lias been found embedded the Kyneton Guardian states in the heart of a tree, by a splitter named Jessop, working on Mount Macehon. The stone is an irregular cube, the sides varying from four to five inches, and it was found almost in the centre of an otherwise sound tree of tho variety known to splitters as cedar, but which is, we believe, a description of lightwood. The man has-sawn from the tree the block of wood in which the stone was found, and beyond a slight discoloration, extending for about the eighth of an inch, there appeared no symptoms of decay. The piece of rock is to be forwarded, together with the section of the tree in which it was discovered, to the Melbourne Museum;
