The following gentlemen were appointed the members of the new Committee Messrs Rankin, (bin Hoy, 11 astir, Christophers, Hazlett, Aldridge, and M'Connochie.. Mr. J. U. Cambridge, and the Rev. J. Jones acted as scrutineers. After a vote of thanks to the retiring Committee, to the Clerk and Treasurer, the meeting closed. A Committee meeting'was held on Tuesday evening. The following members were present—Messrs. Rankin, M'Connochie, Hastie, Orindley, Christophers, and Aldridge. Mr. Hastie in the Chair. The minutes of the last Committee meeting, and of the ann ual Statutory meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. Christophers was appointed Clerk and Treasurer. A letter from the Education Office, dated Dee. 2Sth last, an I the Schoolmaster's report for December, were read and received. It was res lived, that the erection of a new school-room bo again urged on the Education Board, and that, in addition to former reasons, the Clerk should state that the Committee, after due enquiry, are satisfied that at least twenty more children would be enrolled on the resuming of School duties, but for the insufficiency of the present accommodation, and further that 300/. would he about the cost of a suitable stone or brick building, an I that the Committee are prepared to undertake to raise a third of that sum, exclusive of the amount to be realized by the sale of the present building. Resolved, that application be made for the use of the Town Hall, until a new school-house is provided, and that Messrs. Rankin and M'Connochie wait on the Council in support of the request. Resolved, that Messrs. Aldridge and Rankin canvass for subscriptions in aid of building a new school-house. Resolved, that monthly meetings of the Committee be held on the first Monday of eaeh month.
