Up, my friend, and clear your looks! Why all this toil and trouble ?” ALL those who arc suffering from despondency, melancholia, loss of spirits, and pluck, who fee! that they are wasting and pining, and who are gradually g-tting weaker and weaker, from causes they have not courage or desire to acquaint th ir family attendant with. In all such cases Mr. L. L. SMITH fecit it incumbent on himself to inform such unfortunate patients, that he has devoted his lifetime to the study of these complaints, having been a pupil and assistant of the late -Dr,. C’ulvc well, of London, who made these diseases his special praedee. In all those diseases relating and pertaining to Married Life, and which make marriage a curse rather than a blessing, Mr L. L Lmitb can be consulted wi hj the greatest certainty of success, and with the additional feeling that no chance can possibly occur .of their secret over being divulged. i of extreme Nervous debility, i where the patient let’n that he is exhausted and physically prostrated, and incapable of overturn without great fatigue, then and there the person so situated should at once consult Mr. L L. SMITH before disease (,i a more sa iqps character sets in ; the above arises frofneiitly frtfnn the enervating influence j(T h-Jt frequently' from dmer serious j Palpitations of tWhcart, at- ndeaey also ■ to be easily startlyq and alarm-id, is another ■ phase of dissasar which requires particular - attention, as arising from a most important j cause ; those who suffer from the above j have not—“Mix’d with pleasure, Ann wisdom with mirth." I But have on the contrary, boon guilty' of a ! secret vice, which has, as it were, eaten j into their very vitals. Many “ old young i men ’’ consult me, who, though young in 1 years, have, through the. vice above alluded to, and from their having been quacked by the unqualified and unskilful medical man, at last given up all hope and succumbed, and arc aged in their very youth, uniitteJ to fulfil the duties which they arc sent on this earth to herform. “ Co aviso to-day', ’tis madness to defer Procrastination is tire thief of time.” Mr. L. L. SMITH wishes to impress on those avho arc laboring under diseases avhich cannot be treated by the general medical attendant, from insufficient knowledge and practice, that as an export in those diseases, he has the right to avarn the public at large against the number of blatant charlatans and quacks avho not only extort the money out of the poeket.-i of the patients, hut are continually mining the health of the unfortunate sufferers. Many hundreds yearly present themselves to him from all the different colonics, avho arc thoroughly bankrupt in health and pocket, and then lament, when too late, the horrible deception which has been practised on them. Not only do men deceive theseunfortnnate victims by pretending to be legally qualified men, but they advertise for sale, andsaa'indle the public, by selling bottles of muck, under the name of -‘Dr. Ricord’s Essence of Life,” “Balm of Syriaousn," and a mass of quackeries, avhose solo province is to extract money out of the pockets of their deluded victims. Will the public noverunderstand that the only guarantee they can have that they will be honestly and skilfully treated, is the fact that the person to whom they apply for advice is a legally qualified medical man who has devoted his tirao to the branch of practice for which the patient is seeking aid? Secondly, that his long residence in the place, and his position, is at least a guarantee of the estimation in which he is held by his follow-citizens Dr. L. L. SMITH can ho consulted by letter; fee £l. By the above means any male or female patient can, by describing their symptoms avoid, the, in many cases, unpleasantness of a personal interview, and the patient tan retain his incognito. - Medicines appropriately packed to avoid observation are cent to nil parts of tho colonies, with plain lettets of instruction as to diet, &.C., Mr. L. L, SMITH consults personally daily, morning, before 11, and evenings bcwocn 7 and 9.—192, Bourkp-street cast, Melbourne.
