CHURCH OF ENGLAND.

A congregational meeting was held in the Church Building on Monday the 30th instant, to consider Church matters generally. About twenty gentlemen were present. Vincent Pyke, Esq., occupied the Chair. The Rev. Joshua Jones was also present, and, in reply to questions from the Chairman, said he was of opinion the busi. ness of the meeting was to elect a com - mittee, who should take upon themselves the duties of Church Wardens and Vestrymen until the statutory election in January next, and that in the meantime, it would d evolve upon the committee and clergyman to take steps to have the district declared a parish. A discussion took p’ace relative to the number of committee. Ulimatn'y it was resolved that the committee consist of five, the Cle-ayman to be ex-officio member, and that three form a quorum. The election was then proceeded with, and the following gentlemen were elected by ballot. Messrs. Pvke, Christopher. Hazlett, Wil" son and Fache. The Chairman said the business of the meeting was so far concluded, hut before separating, he would urge upon the com* mittee to earnestly set to work ; the duty that devolved upon them was of no light character, and the permanent settlement of the Rev. J. Jnres in'the district as their pastor could only be effected by steadfastness and oneness of action, and he hoped the congregation would all lei d (Leirassi;tance. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chair. The members of the congregation having retired, the Committee sat, and disposed of the following business. Resolved, that V. Pyke, Esq., be convener. Resolved, That A. Christophers be Secretary and Treasurer. Resolved, That the Committee meet each Monday evening at 8 p.m. Giber business of consideration, was transacted, and the mcet'ng closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
