COURT PRIDE OF ALEXANDRA A.O.F. ANNIVERSARY SUPPER.
The second ■■nnivorsary of the establishment of the above Cour was celebrated by a supper given at Jack’s Criterion H tel, Alexandra bn the evenin ; of Fiiday ast the 28th instant. The mom in which the supper was given was simp’y, but tastefully deco rated with flags, he., and the “spread” ot b fore the guests’ was really excellent, reflecting r : gt credit on the rate er. Bro Ra.lcliffe, O.R. occupied th • ebai , and Bro. J. Rivers, S.C.R. officiated a? cfonpicr. When ample ju.tice had been done to the good thin s provide 1, the usual loyal and uatrio'io toasts were given and duly honored.
Mr. lleid proposed “ Court Star of Alexandra” s caking oh the advantages of so cietios similar to the Foresters.
The Chairman in responding, hoped th Lo Ige would continue prosper, us, ami that before many m nths asset!-away, one half the popn’ation of he ist id would be Foresters.
The yiee Chairman gave “Ki drr-d Soe'etics ” coupled, with the name of Mr. Finlay.
Mr. Flhlay briefly respond d, expies-ing himself gratified at the kindly feelings ex pressed.
Mr. Fiiday in ana spe ch proposed the “ Prri-s ” coupled with the name of Mr. Kerr of the Dnnstnii Times, which was is sponde 1 toby tlia 1 gentleman.
Mr. Field gav ■ the “ Commercial In f eres ’’ coupled with the name of Mr. Tlv'yers.
Mr. Thoyers in responding sa d that although the commercial inter st was not in a very bright state at, present, he was satisfied thM if heir resources were properly developed, it would fse to a hiclry prosperous condition. H>‘ lioped the time was not far distant, when they would o joy the frui's of the prop r development of their splendi aurifsious and other resources. “ The Mayor and Corporation of Alexandra ” was pir p sed ' y the Chairman knd responded to y the Mayor, Mr. Theycrs.
“The Mining Inter st ” collided with the name of Mr. Roberts, was the riex toast. Mr. Robot s responded. “Ourfiu'sts” 'as given by the Vice Chairman, and responded to b> Mr. Reid in a graceful spi ech. “ The Ladies ” was given by the Ohalrma i, and responde I to hy M . Vause, The Chairman proposed the “ Host and HoMes - , ” dwelling n the hi ,h!y satisfactory man mr tiny had cater'd for those assembled. Mr Jack briefly aul appropriately responded. The Chairman’s health was proposed hy Mr. Kerr, a d responded to by Mr iladclifie in fitting terms.The proce?. ings of the e-. ening were agreeably d versified and enliv ned by s m s excellently given by sever 1 of the gen'lemcn nvesent, and when the time for breaking up came, all regretted that, so pleasant an eve irig’s an a casement ha come t■ a conclusion. It was one of the most enjoyable aliairs of the kind we ha it ever a'tcnde 1, and we hope “ Court Pride of Alcxau ra” may have many mo e annivo sary celehra ions equally succftssful.
