ARROWTOWN.
(from OUR CORRESPONDENT )
The neglected Arrow is putting off its rags end its mud) and is asserting its rights to a noticeable position. Like Queenstown this place is assuming important proportions. Its mining and agricultural population has largely increased, concomitant storekeepers and other business men accordingly. . The former having become rich unto repletion and in acknowledging this little error or weakness—call it which you like—hvne so reduce'! the prices of their wares that Arrowtown has become the cheapest place for living in in the Lakes district- A newspaper to lie called the Arrow Olmrrcr, printed and published by Messrs. Cope and Brown, is advertised to make its appearance on the morning of Friday the 2nd proximo. The presses are now on the ground and the necessary buildings are rapidly being proceeded with. The Arrowinns are a'so to be tickled by a little sheet got up by an insignificant clique to be printed at Cromwell and sent u here with nasty stale news, but a few liberal minded residents of the district eschew this apology and have purchased an extensive plant of their own and'will produce upon the spot the Arrow Observer.
