CROMWELL.

(from our correspondent.)

There have been so many new quartz reefs discovered lately on the Uarrick Ranges that I declare I have not been able to keep my geography up to the mark and so—although I should liko to be able to tell you all about our fresh acquisitions, I really at present, am not able. I will endeavor however at an early period to give you " a full and particular account " of all the reefs that have been discovered upon the ranges on the other side of the water —at present, I can only deal in generalities. A good leader has been discovered on a high pinnacle of rock that rises up to a great height between the east and west branches of Smith's gully, (a most terrible place to look at from a distance,) but it seems to be rather coy at present, for the party that are opening it up, lost sight of it for two days, but fortunately it appeared to view again, looking I believe" more promising than it did at first. Another of the finds is I am informed not very far from the Elizabeth reef. This one looks promising, but enough stone has not yet been exposed to the light of the sun, or to the eager view of the miners eyes to enable any one to form an aproximate reliable estimate as to the real value of it. Messrs Aitchison and party are working their new claim, which they allege, is the only real reef yet discovered in this vicinity .and Ibelieve are well satisfied with the way it is turning out. The Royal Standard machine is at present idle, but as soon as enough has been grassed by the H e«rt of Oak Company to enable them to keep the machine constantly going whilst crushing one hundrtd tons, it will be again started on the "six ounce to the ton quartz."
