Mr. Yogel made an admirable speech. A proposition wa - made thanking Mr. Vogel for Ids address, and pledging the meeting to sup) ort no candidate opposed to the Government policy. An amendment that time was required for the consideration of Mr. Vogel's statements was declared carried, »mt the voting was nearly equal, and many declared the original proposit on ca ried. The meeting persistently hooted down Grant The residents of Invercargill have memorialised the Government to create Southland a land tran-fer district. Taylor (No. 2), M'Far'and, and Reid (Artillery) represented the first districts in the colonial firing. Each scored torty-six.
