A Brussels paper relates an amusing story of a disaster which recently befel a detachment of sol liens stationed in the Rue dn 'fraud Hospice. ( t appears that the sergeant and his seven men, including the sentry on duty at the door, had such perfect confidence in the tranquility and safety ot the city they considered any vigil nee on their part was wholly unnecessary Accordingly the muskets were all piled in a rack and the men calm y sought slumber within the guardhouse The endeavour was not unsuccessful, and when at daybreak the sergeant awoke ami summoned his men to relieve a somewhat distant sentry, he found to his dismay that some joker or rhief had s’oleii the eight musket, and the party was thus disarmed.
