ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE
We do not identify ourselves with the options that may be expressed by our correspondents. MAYORS AND J.P.’s. (To the Editor op the Dunstan Times.) Seeing in several of the local paper that several of the newly elected Mayors of different incorporated town have been favored with the honorable title of Justice of the Peace, 1 should like toknow the reason that tha Mayor of the incorporated town of Alexandra has not received that title, as well as others, in accordance with the honorable office of filling the cl i: chair. Surely the ratepayers of Alexandra have not elected a gentleman to that honorable position who is not-fit to be made aJ.P. It seemsvery strange that the title should he conferred on the mayors of other munieipa ities an withheld from ours ; isit that the councilors of this municipality, after being in office so long, do not know their duty, and have not represented the election of onr worthy Mayor in the proper quarter. If so, I think the sooner it is done the better, and not let a slur hang over onr worthy Mayor (for such I take it), for I am sureany gentleman who is worthy of being elected to the civic chair of any municipality is surely fit to have the honor of J. 11,I 1 , ronft rred upon him. By giving this a place in your valuable paper you will greatly oblige. Ratepayer.
