DUNSTAN JOCKEY CLUB.
An adjourned meeting of the Members bf the Dunstan Jockey Club was held at the Hartley Arms Hotel, on Friday evening, the 22nd inst. Mr. William Fraser, President of the Club, occupied the chair.. The following gentlemen were elected Members of the Club : Messrs. W. Eamcs, John Sherwood, A. R. B. Thomson, A. Brough, and Dr. Thomson. The following gentlemen were elected as a Committee for the ensuiug year : Messrs. William Fraser, James Hazlett, William Grindley, James G. G. Glassford, Robert Stewart, R.M. Turnbull, R. M'Morran, A. Christophers, William Smitham, J. A. Douglas, A. R. B. Thomson, and Samuel Welsford. Proposed by Mr. Grindley, seconded by Mr. Cox, That a Spring Meeting be held on the 16th of September, under the auspices of the Club ; that the Committe® be requested to draW up a programme, and to appropriate A sum not exceeding £2O fbom the funds of the Club. Garbled. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Dalgleish, Seconded by Mr. Hazlett, That a General Meeting of the Members be convened for the evening of the 16th of September, for the piirpdse of fixing the date of the annual meeting. Attention was drawn to the fact that all cards of Membership on hand had been signed by the late president. It Was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to obtain two hundred frash ones; A vote of thanks to the President Confcluded the meeting.
A meeting of the Committee was then held, the following members being present : Messrs. Fraser (in the chair), Grindley, Faohe, Christophers, M'Morran, and Welstordi 'The election of officers for the ensuing
year was at once proceeded with. Mr. William Fraser was appointed President, Mr. James Hazlett Vice-President, Mr. Christophers, Honorary Treasurer, and Mr. Barlow Secretary. The Secretary stated he had received a commaiicatliim from the Town 'Clerk in reference to holding the meetings of the Club in the Town Hall The Council asked a rental of three guineas per annum for the use of the HalL This was not agreed to, and 6n the proposition of Mr. M'Morrau, seconded by Mr. Pache, the Secretary was instructed to write to the Town Council, offering the sum of f I ids. per annum for the use of the Hall. Mr Hugh Handyside was elected a member of the Club. The account of the ‘‘Otago Daily Times 1 ’ was referred back for particulars. Mr. Barlow’s account for postage was passed for payment. The Treasurer stated that a sum of £IOO was now available. Ordered that the money be placed at interest. It was resolved that a Committee meeting bo held on the 9th of August, for the the purpose of arranging the programme of the Spring Meeting. The meeting separated, after passing the usual vote of thanks.
