CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chamber* on Wednesday last the 20th instanti Present, J. Hazlett, Esq., Mayor, and full Council. The minutes of the last meeting, also of Revision Court was read and confirmed. The "outward correspondence, including letter to the Colonial Secretary, informing him of the election of James Hazlett, Esq., to the nflkh of Mayor was read and approved. The inward correspondence from J, Patterson and J. Holloway, asking permission to mine for coal in Fame-street; from J. Mouatt, Esq., M P.C., respecting the endowment of Municipalities with land, &e. ; from A. Barr, Esq., Chief Postmaster, Dunedin, in reply to letters concerning the delays in the delivery of the Mail ; from Secretary to Jockey Club, asking the use of the Council Chambers for the meetings, were read and received. Permission was granted to J. Patterson and J. Holloway to mine for coal. Application of Mr. Eames was ordered to stand over till next meeting. Permission was granted to the Jockey Club to use the Council Chambers, on paying a rental of £3 3. per annum. Accounts amounting to £42 10s. were passed for payment. Resolved, —That the nomination of Councillors and Auditors take place on Wednesday the 27th. The Public Works Committee were authorised to have a notice board and letter box madejfor the Council. A vote of thanks to the Chair, concluded the business of the meeting.
