LATE FLOODS AND DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.

(to the editor of the dunstan timeb.) Sir, —In unsettled weather, like we have had lately, do you not think it would be advisable thftt the Government should direct the differsnt Telegraph Officers to communicate with each other daily as to auy change that is taking place, and to have such changes noted' outside of their offices. Had the Queenstown Office telegraphed to Cromwell, Dunstan, Alexandra, Teviot and other places as to the state of the weatber in his District "on Thursday and Friday, a great amount of property would have been saved. 1 am sure the Government would not refuse snch a reasonable request if it was made. SAXBY. Alexandra, June 30.
