DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The Usual monthly meeting of the Institution was held in the Committee room. Town Hall, on Monday, June 6th at 8 o’ clock, p.m. Present, Vincent Pyke, Esq., and Mess. Ferand, Clark, Hazlett, Marshall, Beck, Grimlley, T. George, Fache, and fi. BarloW, (acting Secretary.) The minutes of the last meeting and of special meetings, held on the 2nd, Cth, 10th, and 13th, of May were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence, including letters to Mr. B. Washer, Alexander M‘ Lean, of Ardgour Station, and others, applying to those gentlemen to canvas their respective districtsjor 'subscriptions, were read and approved. The inward correspondence, consisting of letters from Mr. C. Goltz, enclosing subscription of £2, and from Mr. B. Washer, in reply to the acting Secretary, stating that his letter Was of an important nature, wore read. Resolved, that the letter from Mr. Glitz hj rciiivsl, at I t'u let;;.' frvn Mr. B. Washer be referred back to him for explanation. The visiting Committee’s report No. 1, was read and approved of. Report No. 2, recommending payment of the following accounts was read and adopted. Salaries, £sl Bs. 4’. Provisions, £34 2s. Bd. Medical comforts, £3 Ss. Alterations and repairs, £ll ICs. 7d. Fuel and light, £2O 12s. Water-rate, £5 58. Stationery, £1 ISs. The Treasurer's report, shewing, Receipts for the month, £l2. Balance due to Bank, £391 10s. sd. Government Subsidy, due, £229 12. was read and adopted. The Resident Surgeon’s report, containing the foil, wing particulars was read and received. Patients in House, May Ist, 11. Admitted (luring the month, 6. Discharged during the month, 8. Remaining imHonso May 31st, 9. Daily average number, of patients, 8 and three fifths. The patients admitted were from the I f Hewing places, Clyde, 1, Cromwell, I ; Nexus, 1 ; Bonnnokburn. 2 ; Cardrona, 1. I The President stated that as Mr.Milhurn; the Secretary, had failed to attend at three consecutive meetings of Committee, he had censed to be a member (vide Ride XV.) an 1 pointed out the necessity of stops being taken to appoint a Secretary and Collector j in his stead. He aporovingly spoke of the | perseverance of Mr. Robert Barlow. During j that gentleman’s term of office the financial j affair of the institution were at all time in a satisfactory state, and he (the President) would suggest Mr Barlow’s reappointment, that is, if he would consent to undertake the office. , - A long discussion ensued, during which most of those present spoke to the point. Ultimately, it not being deemed desirable to call a special meeting of the contributors for the election of a new Secretary, it was unaniraouely resolved that Mr. R. Barlow be elected Collector and Acting Secretary, with a salary at the rate of £IOO per annum. Mr. Barlow, in a fexv pertinent remarks, accepted the appointment. Mr. Grimlley was elected a member of the Visiting Committee, in the room of Mr. Marshall. Attention was drawn that portion of the Visiting Committee’s report respecting the admission of visitors to the patients. It was eventually resolved that the Resident Surgeon be requested to fix the days and hours xvhen visitors should be a knitted to the xvards. The following tenders were accepted :—- Milk, Mr. C. Holden, bread, Mr. Hustle J meat, Mr. J. King; groceries, wines and spirits, kc., Mr. B. Naylor ; burials, Mr. W. G. AVells. Motice of motion by Mr. Marshal - “ That it is desirable that tickets of admission be issued to subscribers of £l ; that such tickets shal not be available for one month after issue ; and that they sha'l not be transferable, and only to he used when the holder is unable to pay for his or her maintenance. The usual vote of thanks terminated the proceedings.
