[BY ELEOTiaC TELEGRAPH.] (FROM OUR OWN' CORRESPONDENTS.) OPENING OF THE SHOTOYER BRIDGE, Queehstown, Thursday, 4 p.ra. Tlie Shotover Bridge was formally opened on Tuesday last, with great ceremony. There were about three hundred persons present. The bridge was very handsomely decorated with fia >s, streamers, and flovicultural embellishments, and presented a most imposing sight. The opening address was delivered by Mr. Warden Beetham, and Mrs. performed the christening ceremony. Mr. B. Hallenstein, the Mayor of Queenstown, made a very able con. gratalatory speech. Luncheon was provided, and was done ample justice to. After which several gentlemen addiessed the company, and the proceedings were concluded. A mine* named Henry B-ooks, from the Upper Shotover. was knocked down and run ove •. on the bridge, hv a dray belonging to Mr. P i;chard, of the Arrow. Mr. Kynne s ey, ’ate Warden on the West Coast Goldfields, is a cam i date for the vacant seat. No opposition is expected.
