ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The adjourned meeting of the Council took place on Monday evening, the 23rd inst. Present: The Mayor and Co mcillors Beresford, Theyers, and Raider. A letter from the Corporation of Queenstown was read, asking the co-operation of this Council in securing from the Government a continuance, for at least three years, of the present subsidy ou town rates. The Town Clerk was instructed to reply, stating that Mr. Fraser, M.P.C., wouhl be asked to support in the Provincial Council any petition on the subject. Accounts to the amount of £2O ICs. 6d. were passed for payment. It was resolved, ou the motion of Councillor Beresford, to call for tenders for the erection of four stone stages for the water tanks. On the motion of Councillor Beresford, seconded by Councillor Calder, Mr. Constable Morkane was appointed to the office of Inspector of Nuisances. It was resolved, on the motion of Councillor Theyers, to allow waggoners to camp on the open space to the right of the Clyde road, abreast the school-house, and the Town Clerk was instructed to have the notice board removed to the new camping ground. He was also instructed to have notice board for rubbish depot taken down and placed near Sandison’s old residence, and to instruct the Inspector to warn persons not to deposit more rubbish on the the present site under penalty of prosecution.
