CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
The Usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Town-hall on Wednesday evening last. Present : James Hazlett, Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Hastie, Johnson, Hueston, Clark, Naylor, and Patterson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed,
The outward correspondence was read and approved. The following inward correspondence was r ead and received :
“ From J. T. Thomson, Esq., Chief Commissioner of Waste Lauds Board, inform’ng the Council that their memorial had heen received and laid before the Waste Lands Board, and that a lease had been granted to Mr. James HoR, with the proviso that he sell coal at 20s. per ton. “From Sergeant Thompson, enclosing receipt for salary, and thanking the Council for their vote of thanks.
“From Mr. H. J. Cope, Secretary to the Celebration Committee, "Queenstown, inviting the Mayor and Councillors to be present at the opening of the Shotover Bridge. “ From the Town Clerk, Cromwell, stating that the Council will co-operate with the Clyde Council in memorialising the Government to have a sum placed on the estimates to thoroughly repair the road between Clyde and Cromwell, “From the Town Clerk, Queeenstown, asking the ce-operation of this Council in securing a continuance of the Subsidy. “ From Mr. John Alloo, asking permission to occupy one acre and a half of ground at the rear of the old Post-office for a garden.”
Resolved, that the letter f rom the Queenstown Corporation be replied to, to the effect that this Council will memorialize the Government for a continuance of the subsidy Resolved, That permission be granted to Mr. Alloo to occupy the ground applied for.
Resolved, That the Water-rate, as submitted, be adopted. A vote of thanks to the chair closed the proceedings.
