CLYDE SCHOOL.

The regular Committee meeting of the above School was held at the School-house tm Saturday last. Present : Messrs. George, Hastie, Hueston, Marshall, and Christoph rs (Cler' The minutes of the previous meeting were rea l and confirmed The inward correspondence, including A three letters from the Educational Board T and three from the Schoolmaster, were read ’1 and received. The letter of the latest date from Mr. S. M. Clark was to the effect that, in the event of his successor being unable to take charge of the school at the termination of the vacation he would return and resume the classes so as to obviate a long extension of the vacation. Resolved, That a vote of thanks be recorded to Mr. Clark for his kind offer, and that he he informed that the committee will ’communicate with him. The Schoolmaster’s report for November and December was read and received. Accounts for prizes, repairs, &c.. amounting to £ls 45., were passed for payment. Tlie Clerk reported that the proceeds of Mr. Pyke’a lecture amounted to £8 14s. Resolved, That this Committee desire to record their confidence in the efficiency of Mr. S M. Clark as a public teacher, and their complete satisfaction of the management of the School during the five years it lias been under his charge, and that the Clerk be requested to communicate the same to him, and wish him success in his new appointment. After a vote of thanks the meeting separated. Public Meeting. A public meeting of owners and occupiers of land was held in the School-house on Monday last. Mr. D. M ‘Pierson occupied the chair, and after explaining the object of the meetling, called upon Mr. A. Christophers, the Honorary Clerk and Treasurer to the late Comrnitte, to read the annual report, which was as follows : “ Your Committee in presenting the third annual report,- since the declaration of the district, desire to express the pleasure and satisfaction with which they have watched the steady and continued advancement of the school. “The number of scholars on the roll appear as thirty-two boys and twenty-three girls; total, fifty-five, which shows an increase of thirteen. The average daily attendance during the year being thirtyeiAt, the same as last year. VlFrom the annexed .‘abstract of accounts’ it will be seen that the school continues self-supporting, and that no special call has been made, except by a lecture kindly delivered by Mr. Vincent Pyke, in aid of the “prize fund,” for which the Committee record their thanks. “Your Committee regret that, owing to the Government being unable to grant any assistance, no steps have been taken to sell the School-house and erect new buildings, as recommended by their predecessors iff office. “Mr. S.
