DUN -TAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the Committee was held in file Town Hall on Tuesday evening last, present—Rev. C. S. Ross in the Chair, A. Christophers, (Treasurer) and Messrs Hazlett, Patterson, Christophers, Grindley, Hueston, Beck, Hastie Marshall and R. Barlow, (Secretary). The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The correspondence was read and received, &c.

It was resolved that Dr. Burrow’s reqrttst’ho complied with, and that the salary be indteased to the sum of L.425 per annum to date from the time that Dr. Barrows took charge of the Institution.

'Visiting Committee’s report No.l stated

that they had authorised the emptying of I fohr closets for the sum of L. 5 10s. That ' paper and paint had been purchased for re-

papering and painting the two rooms lately occupied by the resident Surgeon at a cost of L 2 •ins'fid. Received and adopted.

Visiting Committee’s report recommending that salaries and accounts for the month of November amounting to L 208 2s. lid. be paid, was adonte *. The Treasurer reported that subscrip-

tions received during the month was LI (5 3s. 6d. ; from paying patients, L.4 10-. ; balance on han 1 L. 94 2s. maiuing in house on October 31st, 17 ; admitted during the month of November 13, total 30. Fifteen had been discharged, one made an out patient. The average number of pa ieuts, Is|. Tho patients admitted were from the following places— Alexandra, 4, Cn mwell, 1 ; Dry bread, 1 ; Tinkers, 1 ; Nevis, 1 ; Een' igo Gully ; 3 j St. 6 ithans, I ; Oly e, 1, The report also recommemlee that an oven bo erected for the purpose of baking bread. The report was read and received Mr. Gritnlley was elected a member of the Visiting Committee* in the place of Mr James Patterson, retiring. Mr. Huettoh Withdraw both notices of motion standing in his name. The Secretary state 1 that ho had received a tender long after the lime specified in the advertisement ftfr tenders to be received. It was resolved that the tender he not 'entertained. The Treasurer stated that ho had applied to the AVardeu to pass a voucher for 1..100, being the amount contributed by the Government towards the erection of the Re: tractory AVard, Wit that lie the AVaVden declined to nass tho voucher for more than L. 50; on the grounds that one of the rooms had not be en padded. The Secretary state i that in answer to questions, that the VisitiVig Committee had advertised for tenders for lining and ventilating the kitchen ; thet they had accepted the Tender of M-. The Secretary was instructed to draw the Resident Surgeon’s attention to Rule seventeen. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the meeting.
