(Condensed from the Daily Times.)

Wellington, October, 31. Dr. Featberaton has made arrangements with the General Government to procure a sufficient sum of money to liquidate the provincial liabilities next week. The Provincial Council will meet early in November. Napier, October 31. The nomination for the Superintendency election took place at Auckland on the 28th. There were about 2ioo persons present. The candidates proposed were Messrs Williamson, Ellis, and Gillies. Mr. Williamson said that the issue of the election would he the question of Provincialism or Centralism. Mr. Ellis withdrew from the contest. Mr. Gillies said he had always supported Provincialism, and would not be a source of weakness to the Ministry. The show of hands was declared to be largely in favour of Mr. Williamson. A poll was demanded on behalf of Mr. Gillies and will take place on the 18th November. Fat sheep and cattle are bringing high prices in Auckland at present
