CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnighly meeting of the Council was held on the 14th instant, there were present, James Hazlett Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Cambridge, Patterson, Atkins and Hastie. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and confirmed, f*’*' The following correspondence was read S- and received :—lst, From Mr. J. Over, requesting the Council to pay freight on Timber, &c, until he came up.—2nd, From Mr. W. H. Clayton, requesting that Bonus of £2O for plans, &., be sent.—3rd, From John Nelson, Secretary to the Foresters, accepting invitation on behalf of the Order. —4th, From the Manager of Bank of New Zealand, notifying that the Bill accepted by Mr. A. Moore hadbeen dishonored.—sth From Mr. A. Brough, Solicitor. Proposed by Councillor Patterson, seconded by Councillor Hastie, —That the works of the new Town Hall be valued, arid that 75 per cent be paid to the Contractor.

It was resolved on the motion of Councillor Hastie, That a cheque for £2O, being the amount of Bonus for plans, fe,, be at once forwarded to Mr. Clayton. Proposed by’'Councillor Atkins, seconded by Councillor Patterson, —That instructions be given to the Solicitor of the Council to take immediate proceedings against Mr. A Moore, for recovery of amount of dishonored Bill. The appointment of Mr. M‘Manus was resolved upon, as the Inspector of Mason’s work, at the rate of one guinea per visit, and that Mr. Clayton be communicated with, and requested to appoint Mr. M‘Manus. Notice of motion, by Councillor Atkins, That Assessors be appointed for the purpose of levying a water-rate. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
