Wc would again remind our readers that the laying of the foundation stone of the new Town Hall, Clyde, will take place this day at 11 o’ clock, and would invite the attendance of'one and all. The ceremony will bo performed with Masonic Honors, by Vincent Pyke Escp, Provincial Grand Master, assisted by the Members of the Punstan Lodge, who will appear in'.full regalia, also by the Members of the Lodge of Foresters. Special accommodation in the shape of a platform has been provided for ladies and children.

We have received Telegraphic intelligence to the effect, that His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh will arrive in Dunedin on Saturday the 24th instant. A s his stay is to be but short, we assume the races will take place on the Monday and Tuesday following. At a meeting of the Waste Lands Board, held on Wednesday, the 7th inst., the report of the Secretary for Land andWorksonMr. C. Colclough’s application for pastoral country, Cardrona, was read, and it was resolved to refuse the application Mr. A. C. Thompson’s application for pastoral country, Wakatip district, was refused. Mr. Warden Beetham’s report of application of J. Cochrane for bush license over a certain area, and for protection for a tramway near Juvenile Creek, Lake Wakatip, was read, and it was resolved to grant the application in accordance with the Warden’s recommendation. Mr. Spence’s valuation of Arrowtown was directed to lie referred to Mr. Hughes. Messrs. J. W. Robertson and Co.’s request for leave to build a jetty at Frankton, and one at Kingston, was consideredand it was resolved that the Chief Commissioner should communicate with the Corporation of Queenstown and the Warden of the district on the subject.

having tho name and address of the person intending to hold the same subscribed thereto shall have been given to the Superintendent if the Superintendent shall not within one week after such notice prohibit such raffle by notice sent by post or in any other manner according to the address subset ibed by such person. In tho Provincial Government Gazstte it is notified that under the “ Otago Municipal Corporation Empowering Act, 1860 ” his Excellency has been pleasep to appoint Horace Bastings the Mayor of Lawrence, a Justice of Peace during the terra of his mayoralty

From the Office of the Accountant in Bankruptcy, we have received tho following notice relative to the powers conferred on Trustees under the Bankruptcy Act, and which we publish for general information. —By virtue of the powers conferred upon tho Accountant in Bankruptcy by ** The Bankruptcy Act Amendmon Act, 1869, ” Provisional Trustees and Trustees in bankrupts’ estates are hereby required to furnish, addressed to him at his office, Custom House, Dunedin, the following information and accounts, viz —Every Provisional Trustee shall, upon taking possession of the estate, forthwith furnish a certified copy of the inventory and valuation of the bankrupt’s estate and effects. And every trustee shall dose Ids account and furnish a copy thereof at the expiration of the following periods :—First account at the expiration of six months from the date of adjudication ; second account at 1 the expiration of nine months from the same date ; third account at the expiration of twelve months from tho same date ; fourth account at the expiration of fifteen months from the same date ; and each succeeding account thereafter at the expiration of three months from the date at which the preceding account was closed. The above returns'are to be furnished in all cases adjudicated upon after the date of this notice, ‘•'

The question whether Otago is to have a Bishop with Ritualistic principles, or no Bishop at all, according to our Dunedin contemporaries has been settled in the First Synod of Dunedin hi favor of no Bishop by a majority of four. The voting was, for Bishop Jenner, Laymen, 10, Clergy 4 ; against, Laymen, 15, Clergy, 3 The window of Mr. Barlow, Watch maker and Jeweller of 'lyde, last evening presented a very handsome appearance.
