CROMWELL RACES.
(from oue own correspondent.) £ Wednesday, March 17. The various meetings that have taken place on the Cromwell Racecourse in former years may have been in some respects greater successes, but we scarcely think more general satisfaction was ever given than bn this occasion. The events were well contested, and the arrangements were good. In fact, there was only one thing wanting in connexion with the whole affair, and that was a stand for the accommodation, of the ladies, of whom there was a fair sprinkling. The refreshment booth hel l by Messrs. Goodgor and Kelly, was well patronised, and we think deservedly so, as the food for the hungry and drink for tho thirsty, of which there was abundance, were first-class. In the fore part of the clay the weather was anything but agreeit blowing- violently • Vmk gi> the day
wore on, the wind dropped. Dr. Corse acted as judge, and performed his duties satisfactorily, and the starter, Mr. Jamc s Dawkins, as a rule, got his horses well together and effected good starts. The subjoined will show the result of the different events. Maiden Plate of 15 Sovereigns, one and a half miles.
