CROMWELL MUNICIPALITY.
A meeting of the Council was held in Council Chamber on the 2nd iust. Present: The Mayor and Councillors Smitham, Burres, Kelly, and Booth. The minutes of the previous meetings wore read an confirms I. A letter from the Colonial Secretary 7 was read, informing the Council that the Government hae complied with their request, and had fixe i the principal polling-place for the goi fields forGcneral and Provincial Elections at Clyde. The report of Mr. Beesley, surveyor, on the progress of the uorks on the road to the Nevis was read ami receive !, A letter was read from the Provincial fitcrttary, in answer to one to the Supermini, cut, respecting the subsidy duo to tb'if. its correctness. Ultimately' the Council admitted that it was a fair and just assessment, and directed the Town Clerk to give public notice thereof. Upon tho motion of Councillor Kelly, seconded by Councillor Buries, it was resolved, That Mr. Bcesloy’s report be sent to Mr. Simpson, tho District Engineer, for his approval, the Council, at the same time, recommending that the amount due to the contractor be paid to him,
