THIRD DAY.

The state of the funds being highly satisfactory, the Stewards voted the liberal sum of ±7O for a third day’s racing. This, together with sundry private matches, made a good day’s sport, and attracted a goodly number of visitors. The handicap was a brilliant affair, not excelled by any single event of either of the two previous days. The weather was ffne and cool. A few smart showers of rain fell during the latter part of the afternoon, which, although they made things a little uncomfortable, effectually laid the abominable dust. The first event was a match hurdle race for 60 Sovereigns, three-quarters of a mile heats, between Mr. M'Morran’s Wallaby (Holt) and Mr. Pritchard’s Deborah (Goodman). Wallaby won easily. Handicap Race of 30 Sovereigns. Nominations, one guinea ; acceptances, one guinea. Second horse to receive the entry fees. Open to all horses except winners of ±2O and upwards.

A splendid race. Hack Race of 20 Sovereigns, three-quar-ters of a mile beats. Mr. Glassfor.l’s Wallaby (Holt) 1 1 Judy Bansh- e Donald Jenny M'Morran’s Wallaby Won easily.

Match for 10 Sovereigns. Three miles. Mr. Glassford's Lizzie (Monaghan) .. 1 Stewart’s Stumpy ... 2 Lizzie had the race all her own way. Hospital Race for about 20 Sovereigns, to go to the funds of the Dunstan District Hospital. Won by Mr. Beresford’s Young Alma, beating live others. A well con* tested race. This'concluded one of the most successful race meetings ever held upon the Dunstan Course, and. from the spirited manner in which they were carried out, we may conclude that the Dunstan Jockey Club Annual Races will be considered one of the leading events of the province, At the meeting of the Stewards, held at the Port Phillip Hotel, on Friday evening last, the Treasurer reported that, after paying all outgoings, there would remain upwards of £2OO in hand, exclusive of a ‘ number of subscriptions not handed in. It is confidently expected that there will be £IOOO available for prizes for next season’s meeting. The settling took place at the Dunstan Hotel, on Saturday evening, when everything was satisfactorily settled.
